The 2008 Independent and Small Press Book Fair is this weekend (Saturday, December 6, 10-6, and Sunday, December 7, 11-5) at the historic General Society building — 20 West 44th Street in NYC.

Admission is free!

The Fair will feature over 150 cutting-edge indie presses including Princeton Architectural Press. It’s a perfect way to to get some holiday shopping done!

There are also twelve free programs including: How to Publish Your Own Book with PA Press author Ellen Lupton; How to Catch a Literary Agent’s Eye with Katharine Sands, The Art of the Memoir: How to Tell and Sell your Life Story with David Henry Sterry, and a Literary Trivia Smackdown! There will also be panels on the Future of Publishing and so much more….

Learn about the art and craft of book design from a seasoned author and graphic designer. Whether you prefer to do-it-yourself or work with a professional designer, every author and indie publisher needs to understand basic design principles and processes. Ellen Lupton talks about how to create book formats, page layouts, and cover designs for a variety of genres, as well as how to develop a distinctive visual brand based on your book.
